The Regional Occupational Program (ROP) offers a training program in Fire Science for high school students interested in the fire service. This training program is conducted at a classroom facility housed within Fire Station No. 5 (955 Hartnell Avenue). The students are also allowed to ride-along on apparatus during their non-classroom time. Through this program the Department has a positive impact on youth and can encourage these young people to pursue careers in the fire service. Applicants for any fire service position are scrutinized as to their background, financial responsibility and moral standing. Protecting your background is an important component to being a successful candidate. The Redding Fire Department offers "Protecting your background" as a guideline for your use.
