Money magazine rated Redding as No. 9 in a 1994 study/survey of the nation's 20 best places for starting, relocating, or expanding a small business. This acknowledgment is further supported by the fact that the Redding area is becoming known as a "manufacturing paradise." At least this is what Expansion Management magazine is touting. The magazine has a circulation of 40,000 business executives nationwide. The publication, based in Overland, Kansas, set out to find the manufacturing paradise. In 1996, the magazine announced that Redding was one of the two top first-place winners.
