| The staff provides engineering design services for the City of Redding's larger capital projects.
The staff prepares plans, specifications, and cost estimates for many projects within City boundaries such as:
- Street realignment
- Traffic signal installation
- Storm drains
- Public facilities
While certain large projects may remain in the design phase for three to five years, approximately 20 to 30 new projects are introduced annually. |
Traffic Engineering

Traffic Engineering is staffed by a Traffic Engineer within the Land Development Section of the Development Services Department.
The Traffic Engineering goal is to:
- Move people and goods efficiently and safely
- Maintain environmental compatibility
- Apply technology and scientific principles to the planning and functional design for any transportation development within the City

Services provided include:
- Reviewing of development applications
- Performing travel demand forcasting
- Analyzing traffic reports
- Providing input regarding traffic signal design
