POTHOLE PATCHING

What seems to appear on our roadways overnight, is rough on our vehicles, and becomes more of a nuisance as each day passes? If you guessed POTHOLES, you are correct! Potholes can be caused by many different things. The most common cause is when water seeps into cracks in the surface of the road and, either by vibration of vehicle tires over the cracked area or stresses to the pavement by the weight of trucks and buses, causes the pavement to sink resulting in a pothole. That is also why so many potholes seem to reveal themselves after it rains.

The Street Division repairs potholes and irregularities in the paved surface of City streets on a continual basis. Initial repair of a pothole is considered only a patch until more permanent repairs can be accomplished. Complete resurfacing is accomplished as funds become available.

We know that we cannot possibly find all the potholes in the City, and that is why we ask the public to report potholes as they see them. The sooner we know about it, the sooner we can schedule it for repair. Use the service request form for easy reporting!
