As a division of Public Works, the Water Utility's mission is to provide our customers with a reliable supply of high quality drinking water now and in the future. Towards that end, 26 full time employees serve approximately 90,000 people within a service area of approximately 53 square miles. We are proud of the fact that our water quality not only meets Federal and State Standards each and every day of the year, but in most cases, contaminant levels fall far below published Primary and Secondary Standards. This means you, as the consumer, are assured of the safest water we can deliver to your tap.

We invite you to explore the following pages and learn a little about who we are and what we do.

Special Information - Radiation in Drinking Water

The Environemental Protection Agency (EPA) RadNet Drinking Water Program is designed to protect the public by notifying scientists, in near real time, of elevated levels of radiation so they can determine whether protective action is required. EPA obtains quarterly drinking water samples from more than 50 sites across the country.  Due to the Japanese nuclear incident, EPA has increased monitoring and is reporting results through Press Releases and on their website.

All results are measured in picocuries per liter (pCi/L). A picocurie is one trillionth of a curie. It's important to remember that radioactive material from Japan will have to travel thousands of miles through the air before reaching the U.S. The material will be widely dispersed and diluted by wind. To impact drinking water, the material would need to be caught in precipitation, fall to the ground and eventually enter drinking water. For more information, please visit EPA's Website:
